Aiden's First Trip To The Zoo!! {PICTURE HEAVY!!}

We took Aiden to the zoo for the first time on August 26th.  It was the perfect day, 70* and not too crowded.  Aiden really enjoyed it, he "talked" a lot, pointed and tried to reach the animals and smiled the whole time.  His favorites were the penguins.  Hope you enjoy these pics.  My hubbs is VERY upset because he didn't realize the settings were screwed up on his camera the entire time.  So the pictures have a lot of noise, but I still love them.  He took a ton, but I picked all my favorites to share.

Get To Know You Sunday

Getting to know YOU

The Q's.
1. If you could host a Reality TV show, which one would it be?

Big Brother for sure.  I don't know why, but I just LOVE this show.

2. Do you put your seatbelt on before or after you start the car?

If it's really hot then I will get the car on and the a/c going before I even put Aiden in.  Well, I guess I usually buckle up after the car is on.
3. Shave or hair removal cream?

Shaving.  I hate it though, I wish I had no leg hair at all.
4. What's your favorite feature in a house?

I want a nice porch.  I want a big bathtub to soak in and I want a lot of windows.

5. What is your favorite "Fall" scent?

I love all things fall.  I love apple cinnamon in the kitchen, I love to have warm bakery scents, like right now I have a carmel ginger strudel one.  I love candles that smell like baking cookies or pies.  Oh yum, they make my mouth water!

6. What tv show are you looking forward to seeing the most this Fall??

A lot actually.  I am looking forward to Grey's Anatomy, Big Bang Theory, Parenthood and the new show Mike & Molly looks cute.  Criminal Minds for sure too!!

7. Personal Shopper or Personal Chef?

Hmm, can I take both?  I would love a personal chef I guess.  I actually enjoy going to the grocery store and buying food and browsing.

8. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of "Fall"?

Leaves.  As in leaves turning colors and falling down and being crunchy on the ground.  Then blowing in the breeze.

Friday Tidbits

My brother is off in college now, living in Hawaii.  I will post some pics next week once he gets them all up.  Him and my mom are at the aquarium today, I'm jealous.

It is finally cooling down a bit here and I'm soo glad.  I hate the heat with a passion.  Today I actually wore jeans, and a tank top, and at almost 3pm I'm still comfortable.

Aiden is getting better at going to sleep on his own again and sleeping through the night.  That's all I will say for now as I am terrified of jinxing it.

Kris had 2 bloody noses this morning, and they are always bad.  It looked like a crime scene in our bathroom.  Blood drops on the floor, splattered in the sink, smeared on the counter, half a roll of toilet paper wadded up with blood on the counter... fun stuff.  Poor hubby.

I watched the Hannah Montana movie this morning, and kind of enjoyed it.  She still annoys me, but I will admit to singing along and paying close attention all the way until the end.

I also have been watching all the Rocky movies this week.  I have seen 2, 4, 5 and Rocky Balboa.  I still need to see 1 and 3, but umm, I love Sly even more after listening to his awesome voice soo much.

Mom and I are going to start monthly pedicure appointments together.  I'm writing it down here so she can't forget about it.  I plan to hold her to this idea.

I love finding recipes to try and yet most of them I will never make.  Sad, but true.

Being on WW I am finding that I love popcorn more than I originally thought.  Perhaps I will make more this afternoon.  I still hate the kernels in between my teeth, it forces me to floss, another hate of mine.

I miss having my bangs and desperately want to get a haircut.  I think it will be first reward for reaching my first WW goal.

Writer's Workshop: Aiden's letter to Me

1.) Dear Mommy and/or Daddy...(write a letter to yourself from one of your children)

Dear Mommy,

Thank you for taking such good care of me.   I do have a few complaints I would like to talk about with you though.

First off Broccoli - I don't like it.  You've had me try it over and over and I gag each time.  All those little tiny leafy top pieces falling apart in my mouth feel funny and I'd appreciate it if you'd stop trying to get me to eat them.  I will continue to gag, spit them out in your hand, or throw up until you get the point.  If you could up the servings of salmon and rice and meatballs I would appreciate it though.

Next let's talk about bedtime.  I love when you rock me, and rock me, and rock me all night.  I do not understand why you keep trying to put me down when I'm not ready.  Now you have started leaving me to cry at night, what is that all about?  I get snot in my mouth and get all hot and sweaty, I hope you know it is not fun for me.  You keep saying it's for my own good, that you are teaching me to fall asleep on my own, but I'm not buying it.  I know how to fall asleep and sleep all night long, haven't I proven that already?  Can't I just be rocked all night or get up to play at 430am?  What do you mean "mommy and daddy need sleep too"?

Now, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  I do not like repeats.  I also don't like when you sing "hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog" when MMC is not on tv.  I get all excited and start dancing.  Teasing me is not nice.

To finish up, I understand that my bad rash is all better now, but I have really enjoyed those warm wash cloths on my bottom.  Can we keep that up please?  It feels so soft and I will go back to fighting you at diaper changes if you start using those wipes again.  Take that as a threat Mom.  How would you like cold wipes on your butt all the time?

Thanks for my new leap frog music table, I love it.  I also really like my pool outside, especially when I get to play in it naked.  Keep up the good work Mom, and tell Daddy I would like a puppy.

Love,
Aiden

I've joined Weight Watchers again

So I finally got sick of this baby weight.  I tried losing weight, and lost 15lbs, on my own a while back, but it was short lived.  I don't even know how it happened, but I gained it all back AGAIN.  So I have the 50lbs of "Aiden" weight, plus the original 30-40lbs of extra weight I was just starting to lose {I lost 9lbs in 5 weeks before getting a positive test} with WW's when I got pregnant.

This month I hit a breaking point with this heat.  It's soo hot and I sweat under my boobs, my lower back, my upper lip, between my thighs.  It's gross and I know it's mostly because of my weight.  So I joined WW again, this time I signed up for a 3 month online program.  I figured if I paid in advance I would certainly stick to it.  I hate to waste money.

I've mostly been eating wraps and baked potatoes, salmon and veggies.  I bought a lot of Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine meals too.  It's just easier and living with my in-laws, who don't really plan meals, it's not a big deal that I am only buying meals for myself.

I've been on it now just about 2.5 weeks and I'm happy to report that I have lost 2lbs each week for a total of 4lbs.  It's amazing what just a few pounds can do for your spirit.  I dug out old pictures of me for inspiration.  I have gone through a bunch of old WW magazines to find snack ideas and quick meals.  I'm inspired.

If you have any recipes or WW tips or snacks you just love, please share them with me.  I weigh myself on Mondays and I don't plan to keep up a weekly post, but I will update when I feel the need.  I may even put a weight loss tracker on my sidebar for those who may be curious.

Here goes nothing!

Wordless Wednesday

Aiden in the Car Shopping Cart this week.  His first time and he figured it out and LOVED it as soon as we set him in it.  Shopping will never be the same again.

Thanks Mother Nature!

So if you are not into talking about periods, you should just back out now.  It's okay, I won't be offended.  Just click that little X on the top right and come back next time.

If you are still around, let's talk about periods post baby shall we?  First off I should say that I've been on the pill for like 9 years and have had regular, lightish periods.  They aren't super heavy and I have some mild cramps and digestive problems every few periods.  Nothing to write home about or really complain about either.

My post baby bleeding wasn't anything special either.  I bled mildly for a week and spotted for 5.  These post baby periods however, are something to complain about!

All day yesterday I felt awful.  Really crampy, gas, bloating, running to the bathroom feeling like I'm either going to poop or puke or do both at once.  Not exactly pleasant.  Here is the worst part though.  The cramps feel like I'm going into labor again.  I didn't go through hard labor for hours on end, but I went through a couple hours before I got my heavenly epidural.  It reminds me of those cramps.

They come and go about every 10-15 minutes.  I feel a wave of warmness wash over me and then feel suddenly sick.  I curl into a ball and want to cry.  Pressure helps but doesn't make the pain go away.  My back hurts where my epidural was {an entirely different problem in itself that is just made worse by cramps} and I just feel miserable.

All those Tampax Pearl commercials show Mother Nature coming during a vacation and the girl is supposed to be only worried about leaking in her teeny tiny bikini while on vacation!  I'm sorry but that is the least of my worries - first off I agree that Tampax Pearls keep the leaks away {send me some freebies please!} but the pain is much more intense than anything else.  Where is the commercial where Mother Nature is striking you down with lightening?  That's how I feel - maybe she just hates me because I don't wear tiny bikinis while feeling bloated.

Today I am doing a bit better, I started off the day with a dose of Pamprin and extra strength Tylenol.  I'll keep on top of that all day.  I also have some trusty Pepto with me, just in case.  I'm assured this is normal, that now that I've experienced some real uterus contractions the period cramps are worse.  Makes sense, but why do they have to strike so suddenly and violently each month?  Anyone else feel my pain?  I can't be the only one with pain worse after having a baby.  Maybe it's my body's way of saying "put a baby in me and the pain goes away!".  lol

Planning Aiden's 1st Birthday!

We have started planning Aiden's 1st birthday!  By we I really mean me and a bit of help from my mom.  Kris thinks I'm silly to be planning something this far out, or to be even planning a party at all.  It will mostly be his family there and they don't really care for the details, they just get together and eat.  I however, want it to be special.  Here is some of the things I'm thinking and a little inspiration board of some photos I found....

Blues and Orange
Dole Pineapple/Orange punch with sprite in clear punch bowl
light blue plastic silverware and napkins
blue plates/bowls for ice cream
orange table cloth
blue and orange streamers
blue and orange balloons to mark the mailbox and porch
a big clear bowl of my moms on the table as a centerpiece full of satsumas
orange and blue dipped cake balls?? {bakerella} use white cake mix with dyed cream cheese frosting
orange and blue frosted cupcakes with blue and orange liners instead of a big cake {less messy, no serving needed}
0-12 wall mural - blue and orange circles with a 4x6 picture for each month
orange chicken & rice {panda sauce - mom makes this}
lumpia with orange sweet & sour sauce
I'm going to ask Aiden's aunt Estrella to make this cuban shredded meat
grilled or baked salmon
veggie tray
orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream cups to go with the cupcakes
I have a large blue plastic bowl I will put out filled with goldfish {good for all the kids to munch on}

I do want Aiden to have a nice "smash cake" and I think I'm going to decorate one of those popular Wilton huge cupcakes.  It can go in the center of all the small cupcakes and he can enjoy it.  Anyone made one of them?  Was it worth buying?  Was it easy to do, it seems pretty straight forward to me, but if you've made one let me know!

Lastly, here are 2 of the options I've made up to send out.  Which one do you like?  Or do you like neither?

Aiden is 10 Months! {On 8.9.10!}

Aiden is officially 2 months closer to being a 1 year old!  I am getting so excited and can't wait.  He is such a toddler already to me.  I'm a bit late with the update and behind on recent pictures, but here is a bit of information about Aiden lately!

We have no new stats to update you on.  I know he has grown a bit, some of his 12 months shirts are a bit snug and the shorts look like hutt huggers.  He is also tall enough now to reach door knobs and oven knobs.

He is walking really well these days.  He even tries to run.
He shakes his head "no" and thinks it's funny when you tell him no.
He has mastered "open and close" with his hand.
He can climb and pull himself up on things like a bench or hamper.
He had his first problem with bad hives.
He learned how to take the door hinge off {this is bad!}
He says "mama" "dada" "dis" and "dat" a lot and we are trying to get him to say dog and nana
He waves bye bye when you say see you later or bye without you needing to wave to him first
He eats everything but tells you by gagging himself to throw up when he is done.  This is not fun.
He used to be able to turn off the tub nozzle, now he can turn it on too.  Also bad.

Aiden's Hives

Oh goodness Aiden got some BAD hives this week.  It happened on Friday and they came on quick and bad.  Poor little guy.  A cool bath a few doses of benedryl {per pedi} cleared it up but it was hard to see him scratching and pulling on his ear.  Here are a few pictures.  Oh and just to answer the question, we think it was grape jelly - my hubby is allergic to all fruits.

Silent Sunday: Aiden kissing the dog

This is Aiden kissing my mom's dog Gema.  They love each other soo much.  He will sit there are pet her and kiss her and she will roll over and lick him a lot and then whine if he goes away.  It's very sweet.  As of this weekend {this video was last week} Aiden now has learned how to take the leash to Gema and try and give it to her in the kennel and also how to open the kennel door.

Wordless Wednesday

These pictures aren't edited by my husband yet, I just was too eager to wait for him to get them edited.  Sorry they aren't very great quality.  Look at that hair though, and that smile with all those teeth!!

He's really walking now. SHORT VIDEO

So last night he took 5 giant steps to follow Kris.  Then right afterwards I caught on film him taking several more steps.  Today, being my husbands birthday, of course Aiden decided to walk A LOT.  So I think I can officially say he is a walker just before his 10 month mark.  What a smart little boy!

Bachelorette Talk Tuesday

Let's just skip all the details - I was RIGHT!  AGAIN.  She picked Roberto.  Oh Boy!  I must say I am not surprised, I mean who wouldn't pick a salsa dancing Latin lover?  The only detail I will mention is how awesome it was they came across sting rays and swam with them.  They really are such neat creatures.  HOWEVER, it was a "RANDOM FIND" but yet Roberto HAPPENED to have fish to feed them?  I'm sorry, did he just catch fish up in his hands or was it really all planned after all?  Hmm...

Her family loved both and they seemed split who would be a better choice for her.  I think it was best for her to just let Chris L go early.  I mean I am SURE ABC loved the added drama, but I think if she knew for sure there was no need to drag Chris through all the maybe's and if's and lead him on to the very end.  I give her kuddos for that.

I do like Chris L, and I think he's a wonderful man, but I don't think Ali is good enough for him.  Ali seems too flaky, and these couples never work out and Chris can't really go through heartbreak again right now.  Poor guy.

So there you have it.  Whether Roberto and Ali will last in the long run, I'd put all odds on a big fat NO.  It never works out.  I don't think it's possible to find true, long lasting, meaningful love, in just a couple months on a half scripted reality show.  It's more
about getting to the final rose than anything else.  I'm sure a lot of the feelings are real, but in such a fast paced amazing adventure anyone could mistake the rush and excitement for love.  I hope they are happy and yada yada, but let's not start planning the wedding yet.  Even my favorite couple Ed & Jillian have called it quits - and I really thought they'd last!

Next up for ABC - the Bachelor Pad.  This outta be interesting....
