Thanks Mother Nature!

So if you are not into talking about periods, you should just back out now.  It's okay, I won't be offended.  Just click that little X on the top right and come back next time.

If you are still around, let's talk about periods post baby shall we?  First off I should say that I've been on the pill for like 9 years and have had regular, lightish periods.  They aren't super heavy and I have some mild cramps and digestive problems every few periods.  Nothing to write home about or really complain about either.

My post baby bleeding wasn't anything special either.  I bled mildly for a week and spotted for 5.  These post baby periods however, are something to complain about!

All day yesterday I felt awful.  Really crampy, gas, bloating, running to the bathroom feeling like I'm either going to poop or puke or do both at once.  Not exactly pleasant.  Here is the worst part though.  The cramps feel like I'm going into labor again.  I didn't go through hard labor for hours on end, but I went through a couple hours before I got my heavenly epidural.  It reminds me of those cramps.

They come and go about every 10-15 minutes.  I feel a wave of warmness wash over me and then feel suddenly sick.  I curl into a ball and want to cry.  Pressure helps but doesn't make the pain go away.  My back hurts where my epidural was {an entirely different problem in itself that is just made worse by cramps} and I just feel miserable.

All those Tampax Pearl commercials show Mother Nature coming during a vacation and the girl is supposed to be only worried about leaking in her teeny tiny bikini while on vacation!  I'm sorry but that is the least of my worries - first off I agree that Tampax Pearls keep the leaks away {send me some freebies please!} but the pain is much more intense than anything else.  Where is the commercial where Mother Nature is striking you down with lightening?  That's how I feel - maybe she just hates me because I don't wear tiny bikinis while feeling bloated.

Today I am doing a bit better, I started off the day with a dose of Pamprin and extra strength Tylenol.  I'll keep on top of that all day.  I also have some trusty Pepto with me, just in case.  I'm assured this is normal, that now that I've experienced some real uterus contractions the period cramps are worse.  Makes sense, but why do they have to strike so suddenly and violently each month?  Anyone else feel my pain?  I can't be the only one with pain worse after having a baby.  Maybe it's my body's way of saying "put a baby in me and the pain goes away!".  lol

Ugh! I am so sorry!
I have heard lots of women with the exact same problem, but it apparently gets better with each passing month (I hope!). I haven't actually gotten a post-pregnancy period (I don't count the 6 weeks after delivery, nor the 8 weeks of spotting after the IUD insertion), but when that darned birth control gets removed I'm sure I'm in store for one heck of a doozy! I had HORRIBLE periods pre-baby, so I totally (can try to) feel your pain. Hang in there!! And hey, at least you've got a sense of humor about the whole thing, right?! You funny! ;)

It sucks - I know!! During that time I go through copious amounts of Motrin, Tylenol, Tums, Pepto and the all important chocolate!

Hope you're feeling better soon!!
