Pho' time....

Pho'....

So the hubs like the stuff.  Like, really, really loves it.  He swears it cures a cold, he swears it makes his sperm swim faster {he ate it right around when we got preggers with Aiden} and he swears it will heal all.  I on the other hand have not really tried Pho'.  Once in college I got some with a study group, but I either went to bad place, got the wrong kind for me {no tripe on mine please...} or was just not very open-minded about it - which very well may have been the case.

I promised Kris I would really give it a try for him.  It's been 3 years in the making, but last night I finally took the plunge.  And I'm in LOVE.  Oh goodness it was yummy!  I got the chicken kind, it came with nice lean chicken stripes in it, onion, green onions, noodles and of course broth.  Nothing scary in my folks {I did add the mandatory bean sprouts, lime and sauces of course} and a small bowl was almost not enough for me!

My hubs got the house special, you know the kind with EVERYTHING in it - round steak, flank steak, tripe, meatballs etc.... he also couldn't have a small or large bowl, it was the mack-daddy X-Large bowl.  I am not joking, he bowl was the size of a large Pyrex mixing bowl.  It was beyond big, and without a doubt he was able to finish it all.

We had a nice little time and I told him today I kind of want it again already!  Any other Pho' fans out there?  I even told Kris I might try making some one day at home, it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.  Anyone tried making something similar??

Aiden's First Happy Meal!

Kris and Aiden went for a "cruise" in daddy's car.  They cruised around for a while enjoying all the stares they got.  Then Aiden got fussy, so what's a dad to do?  Get Aiden his first Happy Meal!  So here you have it, proof that he LOVED his happy meal toy {first picture}, his chicken nuggets {he ate 4 out of the 6}, and his fries.  He even shared with Daddy {they parked and had a picnic in the car}.

A serious subject - about my hubby and my PPD/A

I haven't been on here much, I guess I've been neglecting my blog.  I keep posting pictures, but nothing of substance.  I will try to work on that.

I wanted to share something very personal today with you all and just ask for your thoughts for my family.  Kris is struggling.  He has been picking up soo much of my slack from me having PPD/A and have been saying yes to every request made of him.  He wants to make everyone happy and in the end he of course made himself unhappy.

I have seen this coming on for a while now.  He tells me to just relax, read a book, go blog etc, and he will take care of Aiden, laundry, housework and me.  I tell him I am doing better, and he sees a difference in me since I started therapy, but he is just afraid that I will get frustrated and have a set back.  People know he is a talented mechanic and therefore he is always being asked to use his discount and gets parts for his cousin, to check out a problem for someone else, do routine maintenance on everyones cars and he does love it, but he is starting to regret people knowing his talent.  He told me not long ago he feels used.  That people only want him for what he can do and not who he is.

Lately he has been slinking around and being quiet.  I know he's holding something in.  I don't know what exactly brought it on but Monday he just collapsed.  He had 3 different breakdowns and the last one had me hysterical enough to call my own mom to come over to comfort me.  It hurt soo much to see such a strong man crying out for help that I felt I couldn't give him.  After a long talk with all the family and many tears Kris had finally shared how he had been feeling.  Poor Kris was soo upset he doesn't even know what he said, it just poured out for him.

I bought him a nice leather bound journal for our anniversary next week and gave that to him early so he could start to write everyday.  He's been writing when he can't sleep, if we had a great day or a bad day.  I think in the long run it will help him express himself better.  My mom took him to a movie the other day, just the two of them.  His dad took him to home depot and bought a new work table Kris wanted.  Today he is at the junk yard getting parts he wants.  He and I had a quiet dinner together at Red Robin without Aiden.  And the biggest step of all - he is joining me at therapy tomorrow!

Hopefully therapy will help him feel better, if he keeps going with me that is okay, but if he wants to talk to someone alone that is great too.  Either way I think just admitting he was feeling overwhelmed and depressed was wonderful for him.  Has anyone else with PPD noticed their spouse getting a version of caregiver stress??

Just keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  My hubby and I are strong people and we love each other deeply, we just need to find a way for us both to be sane again.  I have heard about the terrible twos - who knew it applied to marriage too.  At least it's not a problem with US, we just need to learn to take care of ourselves better so we can be there for each other.

The Obligatory Father's Day Post

Father's Day.  Ahh yes.  I am not going to lie, between moving coming up and being very cautious with our money there wasn't much going on for Father's Day around these parts.

On Friday we had dinner with my dad, McDonalds actually lol, and gave him some time to play with Aiden and he got a nice little card.  That was that.  Sure it was simple, but my dad understood that he wasn't going to get a nice gift this year and we weren't up for anything fancy.  It was a nice stress free visit.

Saturday my mom made Kris some of his favorite foods, she had homemade cream corn, baked beans with bacon in the crockpot, hot dogs, homemade potato salad and she was going to do chicken legs but they weren't thawed in time.  Then for a treat we had root beer floats and smores using one of those table top gas smore sets.  Kris had never seen them and loved it - so we get to have it now to do with Aiden.  It was fun, but again very easy going.  {PS - Aiden LOVED mini marshmallows, and try reeses pb cups on a smore!}

Then on Sunday we spent the day at Kris' parent's house.  I was going to make Kris breakfast, he usually makes me french toast on special occasions, but we didn't have a lot of bread, and we were out of milk. {We are trying to use up all the food we have instead of shopping for more before we make the big move.}  Then I offered to go buy Krispy Kreme but he said he didn't need them.  I would have made eggs and pancakes, but I don't do pancakes like he does.  So we had coffee.  Lame.

Aiden said "dada" very clearly in the morning, but Kris was still sleeping in.  The rest of the day all we got out of him was "da" or "duh".  That's okay though, it was wonderful he decided to say it, or the close to it for the first time, on Father's Day.  Kris was more than happy.  What a good memory.  We spent our morning packing up things to put in storage and things to move over.  Then Kris' dad came over with the van and we loaded stuff up!  We managed in one load to move our big black leather recliner/rocker {which will be in our bedroom}, a tall bookcase, and Kris' big desk.  We also shoved in a handful of boxes and lots of Aiden toys and some clothes on hangers.

Then we spent the rest of the day just enjoying time with Kris' dad.  He made food, we unpacked some things, Aiden took a nap with his Lolo {grandpa} and I watched a Hallmark channel movie with Kris' mom.  The only thing Kris said he wanted from me was for me not to start my next book until Monday.  I think he was a bit jealous of all the reading I'm doing.  So I have kept that wish from Friday night when I finished a book until now.  He said I can read today if I MUST.  lol  I'll have to work on reading only at bedtime or when Kris is busy instead of every.chance.possible.

That's it.  No fancy Father's Day gifts to share, no fun pictures were taken.  Just a simple weekend for us, but Kris knows on a daily basis how wonderful we think he is as a father.

My Little Brother's Senior Pics!

I can't believe that my little brother is graduating high school on Monday. I seriously remember when he was born, I was 8. It just blows my mind that I have graduated high school, gone to college and graduated that, married and have a son, and NOW my brother is all grown up and off to college!

Brock will be going to the University of Hawaii in the fall. I'll post pictures of his graduation next week too. Here are some pictures that my hubby took on Monday.

Random Story of the Day.

That is my father in law, my brother in law Jeff and Kris.  They were all watching Jeepers Creepers {stupid movie!} and Kris is sick today.  He has been laying around with a fever and drinking theraflu etc.  His family came to visit today to rescue me from fussy Aiden and grumpy Kris for a while.  They also brought soup and juice and lunch for us.  Shortly after this photo was taken Jeff got annoyed with Kris for laying on him and farted on him.  My husband is 27 and my brother in law is 29.  What mature boys - I guess brother's will brothers and will always pick on each other.  Cracks me up.  This has been my day.

Lunch Date with Hubby.

Per the Dr. Kris and I are spending some time away from Aiden.  Trying to make sure we are getting enough "mommy & daddy" time and also some well needed quiet time.  We went for sushi last month and today we went out for lunch at Ramono's Macaroni Grill.  We'd heard mixed reviews, but we had a gift card and figured we couldn't let it go to waste!

It was soo yummy!!  They start of the meal with olive oil and fresh cracked black pepper to go with their bread.  Oh my goodness it was such fresh bread.  I had a blackberry mint ice tea which was also very refreshing.  Different, but I enjoyed it.  For dinner Kris got Shrimp Portofino - Jumbo shrimp sauteed with fresh spinach, mushrooms and pine nuts in a lemon butter sauce with imported capellini pasta.  I had Mushroom Ravioli - Ravioli filled with tender mushrooms and melted cheese, then topped with Marsala cream sauce.  Both were really good, but I had to say I think mine was better!

We both got dessert too!  Don't you have to have dessert when you go out to eat?  I think so!  Kris had Simple Lemon Pound Cake - lemon pound cake garnished with fresh strawberries and I had Smothered Chocolate Cake - rich chocolate cake topped with homemade ganache and pecan pieces.  As you can see they both looked delish.  My cake was soo rich though I had to take most of it home.  I plan to enjoy the leftovers soon with coffee.

Oh!  And they had the white paper down on the table for us to color on.  Crayons were provided of course!  So I took the lead and drew an Orca whale.  Kris was a restaurant prude - he was afraid to color and said I was acting like a high schooler.  He also did not approve of me brushing crumbs off the table onto the floor.  Lastly when I added more Olive Oil to our dish he said "I don't think you are supposed to do that".  I teased him.  Finally he joined in on coloring!

After we had our lunch we went to Walmart to get a few things we needed {soo romantic I know} and then on to Best Buy to browse around.  It was just nice to be out and not have to worry about if Aiden needs a nap or a bottle or a diaper change.  Usually I don't mind, he loves going to Target with us, but sometimes it's nice to go without him.  My mom enjoyed time with Aiden anyway.

Next week we have a date to go see Iron Man 2 in theaters.  Very excited about that too - we haven't seen a movie since Thanksgiving when Aiden was a baby and slept through it.  Next weekend Kris' parents get to watch him while we go out.  Spreading the love!

TONS OF PICS - and a quick weigh-in.

So first off I wrote about my start back into working out and getting back on track physically on my weight loss blog HERE - here is a little preview - I only gained .9lbs in 2 weeks of my not working out!!  Yay me.

Okay now for some fun stuff.  Kris got a remote control for his camera and has been playing around with it, and with a watermark and with the exposure etc.  He has really started to show some improvement in his photography and I just can't help but show them off!  I mean they are of my cute little boy and handsome husband.  So please sit back and enjoy the picture overload! Oh and these were all taken the last 3 days.

Aiden and Daddy Bathtime

Kris and I take turns giving Aiden his bath.  Well it was Kris' turn the other day and I walked in to find Daddy and Aiden together in the big boy tub!  Kris had on a swimsuit so I used this chance to take pictures.  I had to share because these were soo very sweet.  Aiden just loved splashing in the big boy tub.  Soon he will be sitting up well enough to do this on his own!
