WIP {work in progress} Wednesday

New:

I'm working on a couple pot holders and a small tote bag for Kris' Aunt who has a birthday this coming week.  I'll do a nice reveal of them later this week or next Wednesday.

Completed:

Just a quick tote to practice before I make the said birthday gift.

A little mug rug and mouse pad for my mom's office.

In-Progress:

The Lotus Quilt, still yet to be named, is coming along well.  I have completed sewing the top and trimming it, it's an odd size - 67x69.  I love how it looks though.

I also did just a small pieced back to tie it into the front.

The most exciting thing of the week if I made my own binding!  I was beyond scared to do this, I mean what a waste of pretty fabric if it went wrong!  It didn't though, it's so thrilling to see it all rolled up and just waiting to go on the Lotus quilt.

On-Hold:

Same as last week...
The mini-pini quilt
Mod-Times quilt {which may eventually get scrapped}
Dutch Girl quilt for mom

This week's stats:
New projects -  3
Completed projects - 1
Currently in progress or On-Hold - 6

Love the Lotus. The binding looks like it will tie it together well.

Your lotus quilt is super, love the fabrics you choose. I am slowly cutting some sheets up to use for one for myself. Congrats on doing the binding. I always do mine like Eleanor Burns does and have never had any trouble.

I recently finished a quilt that I made my own binding for, only to be told by the head of our sewing club at church that I did it wrong.
I took 2 inches of fabric, sewing the strips together, ironed it in half, and then each half in half. I have no idea what she is telling me that I did wrong, but hopefully she will show me how to do it.
She said something about sewing it on the back first and then putting it around to the front. When I've used store bought binding I just put it around and sewed.
