HELP!

Okay so I have a new little button/link thingy my brother made me to use elsewhere. I would like to be all cool and put a picture of it and then the link to copy on my sidebar in a little scrolly box. Not that a lot of people would want my "button" but whatever, who cares, it'd make me happy. How do i do this button boxy thingy? Anyone??

ALSO....

On the note of changing things on my blog, I'm not smitten with my header anymore. I want something to match my new button thingy and something a bit bigger (takes up the entire top) and more personal. Perhaps adding a picture or two... A lot of you ladies have AWESOME headers... can you make some suggestions of sites online to try and make one? I've heard to try online scrapbook sites, but I haven't the slightest idea where to begin. Please help me revamp my blog!

Thanks....

Your Assignment - Mama Kat's Writing Prompt!!

So Mama Kat at Mama's Losin' It is at it again, boy do I love her weekly topics! This week I picked the one I felt might entertain my readers the most. It just stood out at me as the perfect one for me to write about. The prompt was "what are you afraid of" and boy do I have a BIG FEAR of.....

Orca Whales.

Yes, you read that right, I'm afraid of Orca Whales. They scare the crap out of me. I have nightmares about them, I hate seeing real ones on SeaWorld commercials. When Wheel of Fortune goes to Orlando and they have the Orcas in the background I hate it. I think this fear all started when I saw Free Willy. The first one. You remember the scene when Jesse is spray painting the side of the tank? Then lightening strikes and lights up the tank and you see nothing but scary whale teeth?? Yeah, that did it for me. Then later in the movie the tank breaks and the whale is free. Seriously scary. Oh and the real "star" of Free Willy came to the Oregon Aquarium, so yes, I even saw the scary bent fin whale in person.

This fear has haunted me in many forms growing up. I used to think the dark shadows on the other side of the pool were possibly whales, so I would'nt swim over there unless others were on that side of the pool. I already mentioned I have nightmares about them..... one I have regularly is when I'm on a ship, like a big cruise ship, and it starts to sink. As the ship sinks and goes further and further under water more and more Orcas surround the boat. By the time I'm the only one standing on the tiny tip of the ship sticking out of the water there is no water to be seen, just whales packed together. Waiting to get me. Last time I went to SeaWorld my younger brother thought it'd be funny to make me stand next to the tank. So there I am to amuse him and "face my fear" when the whale pops up out of nowhere. I screamed like a child and jumped back. A bunch of kids started laughing at me. You'll never catch me on a whale watching Alaska cruise either that's for sure. I mean just look at the picture below - that whale is out to get someone.
The worst part is the noises they make. My friend Derek once downloaded Orca cries and put it on a random mix on the overhead stereo system at the coffee shop we worked at. All of my coworkers knew and waited for the fun to start. So there I am doing inventory and started looking around when I heard all the whale cries. I seriously started freaking out. They thought it was great, I will never forget that.

So many people find my fear amusing that for my black and white wedding my mom's boss planned to dress in an Orca Whale suit and step in on the dance floor and tap me with his fin during our first dance. No one was able to find a full Orca costume in time for the wedding, which was surprising since we got married 6 days before Halloween. I didn't know the plan until after the wedding was long over, I was glad it fell through. Not funny to see a scared bride run from a 6' something whale!
One last note about my fear. I have tried to get past it many times. I even watched the horror movie called "Orca, the Killer Whale". Look it up, it's old, but the whale kills a bunch of people. Scary!

So there you have it, my fear... laugh, go on, it's okay I'm used to it. Comment too...

Way-Back When-esday & WordFUL Wednesday!

Again I'm combing two posts, it's just soo easy to do on Wednesday and I know sometimes I update a lot. So here you have it... join in on both or either at the links below. And as always, I love the comments and usually return the favor!

This is my husband. I have many nicknames for him, but sometimes I think he looks like a monkey. He even does this thing where he pulls on his ears, puffs out his cheeks and makes monkey faces. Never fails to make me laugh. I also believe that our son will look just like him, and I can see a chubby cheeked, round, tan faced little boy on the way. I call our little guy a monkey and as you may know if you read this blog often, our nursery is the original sock monkey theme. So when I found this picture on my hubs computer it made me laugh. Here he is long before I knew him, age 20 I would guess, climbing a tree. Oh and that face, just look at it. Makes me smile. So there you go, a glimpse at my goofy hubby acting like a monkey.

Ten On Tuesday...

Okay here we go again - Ten Favorite Things on Tuesday. Play along, leave comments!

10 Favorite Characters from Television

Note: These are in no particular order, just the order they come to mind.

1. McDreamy. Aka Dr. Derek Shepard from Grey's Anatomy. Who wouldn't love him? He has amazing hair, that smile and those eyes, plus he makes scruffy look good! Beyond his looks though, he saves lives, AND he is hopelessly in love with Meredith who has a crap-ton of problems. He just doesn't give up on her and their love, what a man! Plus his best friend is pretty hot too.

2. Samantha Who? Aka Christina Applegate. Now, I haven't really enjoyed her on previous shows, she was funny enough in The Sweetest Thing, but for some reason I love her in Samantha Who? I think the idea of the show is unique and I think they make it very funny every week. I'm very sad that this show is now ending, I don't know why, I watched it every week and always laughed!

3. Hotch from Criminal Minds. He certainly isn't the hottest male on the cast, but he is my favorite. I like his voice when he's being all smart and FBI like. He always seems soo real. He is the one with a family, with the sadness to him, it just makes me like him.

4. Chandler from FRIENDS. He was always my favorite, although I was a bit more like Monica. I even married my very own Chandler. He was soo witty, I loved his jokes, and he always had the best facial expressions. Then he falls in love with Monica and gets all sappy about being married to her and having a baby, it's just soo sweet. The whole cast was great, but really Chandler won my heart.

5. Brandon Walsh & Kelly from 90210. Yep, I'm taking back a bit. I could just pick one of them and cheat and use another for #6, as this is getting tough to think of people, however on the show you couldn't have one without the other. I loved watching this show, and I wish I could find more reruns of it on tv now. Brandon and Kelly were soo sweet together, they made me happy. I always wanted to have love like that. And when Kelly had troubles, like she was raped, he was there for her.

6. Aiden from Sex and the City. Oh Aiden. And no, i'm NOT naming my son after a tv character. I love the name all on it's own right. Okay, back to Aiden. I must admit, I do love Mr. Big too, but Aiden treated Carrie so well. He really loved her, he wanted to help her be a better person, like quit smoking for example. He has the best voice, and he is good with his hands and had his own carpenter shop. Then after Carrie BROKE HIS HEART, he found love again and had a baby. He was a good man.

7. Elliott from Law & Order SVU. Again, he falls in the category like Hotch. He is just soo real. He has a failing marriage, a teenage daughter who has run-ins with the law. He was in the military and has a lot of life experience. When it comes right down to it though, he is 100% committed to his job and he does anything (and sometimes crosses the line) he can for justice. Plus, he's not too bad on the eyes.

8. Izzy & George from Grey's. Okay so I did my best to leave all the Grey's cast off my list, even though I really do love them all. But try as I might, Izzy & George keeping coming to mind. They are a couple, in my mind, just like Brandon & Kelly, and they belong together. I knew Izzy was getting sick last season, but I just didn't want to see it. Now of course George was the ultimate shocker in the plot. I bawled like a baby when he died and they were shown together at the end, him in his uniform. Perhaps because I was pregnant at the time, but it just devastated me. Of course we now know George will be gone for good, but Izzy will be returning.

9. Oprah. Now, this may be breaking the rule, as she isn't really a character, but she is on TV and has been for a LONG time, so she's on my list. She is an inspiration to me. I think she wants nothing more than to help others and I love the topics of almost all of her shows. She is generous, and she is a real person. She is open about her battle with weight, which is refreshing to people like me who have always dealt with it as well. She deserves a spot on anyone's list.

10. Austin from Days of Our Lives. *Sigh* Oh he was soo my favorite on this show. I have watched days since I was in like 4th grade. I love it still, and my husband is now a fan too. Austin hasn't been on for YEARS, but he was a good guy. I can't remember a single thing he ever did that was wrong. Sami lied to him, about him, and flat out ruined him. She ruined his marriage to Carrie at one point, then Carrie cheated on his with Dr. Mike and left him. Poor guy, I miss him. He was handsome too. Oh, I wish they'd bring him back.
